Yo Papa_C!
So I'm at a customers house the other day talking about making changes to my website and adding a bunch of pictures to it, and about buying a camera. He goes inside and come out with a Canon EOS20D with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm Lens, and a very sexy camera strap that says "Digital" in cool, Tron looking font. He says for a deep discount off of his bill he would let me have the camera and get this, even that cool strap! I played with the camera for a while and it looked good but I don't know how much these things are worth so I jumped on Craigslist from my phone and did a few quick searches and found people selling them in the 400-600 ($) range. I gave him about a $300 discount off his bill and now I'm the proud owner of a big black menacing camera with more buttons and do-dads on it than my last laptop. Did I mention the strap? The strap is awesome.
Here are my questions to you; 1) Did it get hosed? 2) Do you have a good forum suggestion for this camera? 3) Why is Pauldun such an asshat?

Get the magic lantern guide for the camera. It will teach you a lot. 20D is older, but still a decent camera.

I have a 20D I bought 2 years ago and I paid $500 for it. You did really good getting it for basically $300. I love the camera, and it does more than I can use still! I'm *still* learning how to use it to full potential.
I would recommend a different lens. The 18-55 is a kit lens, and you won't read alot of stellar reviews about it. At Christmas I picked up a Tamron 18-200 that does everything I need. Nobody knows why Pauldun is such an ass. I think he does it for attention personally. I'll gladly post some of the pics I've taken with it if you want to see what kinda quality you can get from it.

Here are some other pictures that I have PERSONALLY taken using a Canon EOS20D with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm Lens while taking a bubble bath.
All shots done while exfoliating so it was one handed. |
