Default Verizon 3G users

Upgrade to 4G now or lose unlimited when you upgrade to 4G later. Verizon is forcing all unlimited 3G users to tiered plans after this summer when they upgrade to 4G.

Even if they keep their unlimited, their speed will get throttled after a certain amount. Also, any upgrade = new contract, which means after those 2 years they WILL lose unlimited.

That's not how grandfathered worked in the past. If you reupped, you kept unlimited and if that is how they are going to play, I will just buy new phones without signing a new contract.

How much data do you guys use that really warrants the unlimited?

I think I avg 2-3gb per month.. mostly just streaming audio. Edit - also forgot to mention that I use it for work and get about 1,000 emails a day btw work/personal emails.

I will however be ditching verizon somewhat because of this and mostly because I really want a Samsung Note.

Usually 2-3GB... However, I was hoping to ditch my shit at home and just use my phone as a hotspot.

I use about the same, but judging what I use now to determine what I need for LTE is useless. Choosing a capped amount now assumes nothing will change but speed, but that's not how it's going to work. Developers are going to make apps that are better able to utilize the faster speeds of LTE. They're going to naturally use more data to provide more content. The browsers will be able to pull higher quality data from web sites. General use of apps that work better by being able to stream more data will go up. As the technology becomes more widespread, it's just going to lead to higher data use. If I used something like Pandora or Netflix, it would take a minimal amount of time to blow through a capped data plan.

Didn't think of it that way. Glad my boss pays for my data. I wont have LTE for at least 3 yrs so I'm gonna go with the 3gb plan.
