Default ps3 blue ray not loading BDs ?

so this happened twice in a row.

i have seen probably 15 - 20 BDs on the PS3 at this point.

got one in last week, it would not load. cleaned the disk, (no knicks/ scratches), still nothing.

sent it back to netfliz - got a replacement. that one worked fine.

then next on the list was terminator: salvation. same deal, BD does not load. no icon in the system to select and play it.

sent it back, got a replacement - same deal. will not load. i did a system update, still nothing.

is system update the same as firmware update with these? any other ideas?

I have played 100+ Blu-rays on mine and never had a disk that wouldn't load. Some of them do take forever with the Blu-ray live crap though. Mine is an original and probably 2.5 years old.

Mine stopped reading Blu-Rays and I had to send it back for a warranty replacement / repair.

Why would it cost $100?

Isn't there a warranty?

Has it happened with any discs other than ones from NetFlix?

If it is one month old try returning it to the store where you bought it. Tell them this is the first time you tried to play Blu-rays in it and it doesn't work. Bring the movie with you. They may take it back as a manufacturing defect and give you a new one.

Even if you have to send it back to Sony I don't know why it would cost you $100. It should still be under warranty so I would think fixing it would be on Sony's dime.

Either way I would try to return it for a new one first. From my experience with a few different PS2 systems, you can fix laser issues but it is only temporary and will come back.

I was doubting that he was Jewish until and went back and saw that he posted that the system was only one month old when it was really over 3 months. Okay, you get your Jew card and Jew gold back, congratulations...
