And what didn't you like about the shaft drive?
rumor has it they wanted to make the new max a chain drive, but the faithfuls voted it down in yami's focus groups. also, its limited to 138mph. wtf? 200hp, cut off/electronically limited to under 140mph.

true, but still seems kinda low.

cycleworld test says it came in at 137 thru the 1/4mi bone stock-so for the guy who would just lower and put a sticky tire on the back and go racing, now he has to spend some money for some black box shenanigans, or deal with hittin the limiter at 1000ft. unless its like the old skool gsxr1100's where there was that lil wire on the ignition u could snip to unleash its full power. but i doubt it.

I've heard that too. I get it...you gotta build the bike the customer wants to buy.

The damn drive line lashing is the killjoy. It may be fine on a touring bike, or if pushing it, a sport touring bike since that most Beemers are fairly sporty in the handling department. But for a true sport bike? It sucks. It's herky jerky, and heaven helps you if you don't blip the throttle right on the downshift. Talking about rear tire locking up.

That HP2 Sport is a hell of a bike considering that it runs on an aircooled twin AND funky shocks AND shaft drive. But if they were just to eliminate the shaft drive, I can deal with the funky shocks since that I've been riding these Telever/Paralever suspension for several years and get used to the vague feedbacks already. However, knowing BMW, they'd probably did this model as a statement - See what our engineers can do with a bike that is not a true sport bike design.

I've only rode one shaft drive bike....when I was first learning. I didn't know enough about bikes to tell any difference.

I know it's only been a month since the wreck, but after much deliberation, there probably wont be another bike.
