I don't think he mean a riding specific knee brace

and actually they make a riding neck brace... lots of the young riders have to wear them

for those that dont think they need gear if just cruising the strip or going to the store, or if you'll only be doing 20 or 30mph, try this: set on your buddies truck tailgate in your t shirt and jeans, have him maintain a constant 30mph and then, jump off.... this will give you a good idea as to how well your jeans and skin hold up to the pavement

And remember how fucked up your knees. hands, face, etc. got? Who honestly rides anywhere below 35 mph?

"Full Gear" means race level boots,1piece/2piece leathers, gauntlet gloves, full face helmet, back protector, and maybe even a chest protector.

"Acceptable Gear" means leather work boots, riding jeans, armored jacket (preferably leather), gloves (always leather- no mesh or mechanics or fingerless), and a helmet (3/4, modular or full face- no beanie BS). Basically, if you don't wear this level of protection, I won't ride with you. I don't need to deal with extra gore because of your laziness/stupidity.

but how often were you going 30mph on a bike and bailed? usually if I wrecked my bike it wasn't a "high speed" wreck... ya know? 30mph on a bike is still a decent pace.

I used to rollerblade back in my early teens... I actually would grab on to cars and sketch... well got pulled along and a buddy decided to gun it... I let go at what he said was 35 or so... felt like 120... ate shit and had some nice rash... still have a scar on my leg from it... and I had long shorts two shirts a hoody and gloves on... wore a few holes in my hoody and one all the way down to the 2nd shirt. lucky I didn't hit my mellon though...

Wow, 9 pages on this and still going?

Personally (and anyone that disagrees is just being stubborn ) I think the definition of "full gear" changes with context, like damn near every other word in the English language.

Had Curb (the inspiration for this thread) been riding at the track or canyon carving when he had his accident and said he was in "full gear", I would assume he meant a 1 or 2 piece leather suit, gloves, boots, helmet, and maybe a back protector.

Since he was riding to or from dinner when he had the accident, I would assume he meant helmet, jacket, gloves, and riding boots/shoes.
