they are intended for long range sniping, not shooting paper targets 100 yards away.
I would shoot things thousands of yards away... duh.
Have you ever fired a 50 cal anything??
It's a rush in itself.
Being able to put that fire power on a pinpoint target is the ultimate.

the M107 has less kick than most .308s. more motion, but less kick. also its intended to kill trucks and light armor vehicles. not people. the trigger is far too coarse for it to be a true sniper rifle. however theres quite a few very talented shots weilding them in country i just wish i'd gotten the opportunity to use mine on the last tour

True...
In fact they are not to be used on a human... equipment only.
Good thing that when shit hits the fan, a belt buckle is "equipment"

from a mile away the bullet would have lost enough kinetic energy to penetrate armor, but not flesh.

but then again who's shooting at target sized people from a mile away.

Call of Duty 4: .50 cal all is left is a splatter on the wall.

Sweet game, way too short on single player.

You should let somebody shoot your car from far away and see what happens.

I was told the "Bear" .50 cal would penetrate 1/4" steel at a mile no problems

Quote:
The fifty caliber's ability to be deployed by one individual and give that person the capability of discretely engaging a target at ranges of over one mile away are definitely alluring from a tactical standpoint. While the .50 cal sometimes seems to be exaggerated, it is hard to imagine a round that at ranges of over a mile and a half away, has more kinetic energy than a .44 Magnum, and has unbeatable penetration as well.

50 Caliber Armor-Piercing Bullet Penetration

Material 200 Meters(219 Yards) 600 Meters(656 Yards) 1,500 Meters(1,640 Yards)
Homogeneous Armor Plate 1.0" 0.7" 0.3"
Face-Hardened Armor Plate 0.9" 0.5" 0.2"
Clay 28" 27" 21"

actually the recoil on them is not very bad, the mussel break on it absorbs about 60% of the recoil, and then the barrel actually moves about a quarter of an inch to absorb even more of the recoil, and then the buffer spring and a large pad on the butt absorb the rest......sooo its not that bad

but yea guys a tool for shooting at targets that close
