Just cause some fat cat sits back in a office located in the united states while all the cars are produced outside of the states, doesn't really make me feel patriotic about the cars. Outside car builders have brought more to the economy in my area and to my company than any America company.

My 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE aka Goole 3.1L V-6

Other than oil changes in the motor and trans. Replacement of standard wear items in brakes and suspension. Replacement of the alternator, thermostat (PM), rad, tires, etc. Motor and trans never opened. Traded it in cause I no longer drove lots of miles (where it spent most of its time) for work transport. 292,000 miles. Still got 24-27mpg and was just starting to rust under the doors!

Here in the condo garage with the 9R

When it rolled 200k

The day I traded it in...

I actually miss that car.

My 95' GMC Sonoma has 249,000 on it. 4.6L 5 speed. It still holds 50lb's of oil pressure at idle. Yesterday when I filled it up I checked the MPG, 23.5 which is .5 better than when it was new.
Replaced parts have been 1-Clutch at 146,000,
fuel pump at 235,000, Ignition module and coil at 230,000 and the starter at 242,000. Other than a few batteries, brake pads, belts, tires and a muffler, that is all that has been replaced.

I really need to make myself flush the radiator and replace the water pump and hoses. They are still working fine but a quarter million miles on a water pump and hoses just seems ridiculous.

I'd bet if you include trucks the american cars would kick ass in mileage. People run pick up trucks forever.

My dad traded in his 92 full size Chevy (V-6) with 289,000 (or more that was the last time I borrowed it) and it still ran great, still looked ok cause they repainted under warranty in 97. He had a 5 year warranty on the body cause they messed up and drilled throught the roof putting in the doom light. Then they had a paint recall he waited till his warranty was just about up. The door hinges were pretty worn out though.

He repaced it with a V-8 Chevy full size. I bet it will last a good 10 years or more.
