I don't know! I owned a snake and I'm willing to admit that it was more for the "cool" factor than anything. "Hey baby, I have a Black Mamba, you want to come to my place and see it?" IMHO they are not "fun" pets, every time you put your hand in that cage, you have to be ready for a strike. They are fascinating for sure both they don't do a lot. They are about 1-2 steps above fish IMHO.

I have handled and dealt with venemous snakes in the past, but the mambas truly scare me because they are so fast and unpredictable.

I believe theres on ER in fla that has the antivenom for every venemous snake in the US. I think jacobi hospital up here in the bronx has a prety good collection too since they are right near the bronx zoo and need antivenom of all the venemous species they keep there.

I have heard the same thing, but I also saw on Venom ER once where they are seeing interbreeding of species, with different venoms intermingling and they are having a hard time nailing it down. For some reason people freak when bit and dont grab the snak, imagine that?!

Seriously....a snake that huge as a house pet?

WHy in god's name would you ever want that thing around? Even if you love snakes, how could you keep it confined like that and still say that you like it? I don't get it.

I had one that size and basically lived in my closet that I customized for her. Snakes dont realy need a lot of room since they usualy just lay and wait for prey to come on by.

would have sucked if you forgot that was her closet and went to find a pair of pants to wear.

i don't even know what to say about this story. seems as though someone wasn't very responsible with their child's life. people always seem to think that because they like and can handle animals their children automatically can as well. i know at two she wasn't "handling" the snake but it just seems they should have taken more precaution.

finally agree with above. why the hell have something that size, that can eat your kids. oh hell no!!!
