I feel really safe now...
... Knowing my viscous attack dogs are on guard all night long while we sleep, ready to tear any burglars to shreds
Ooook.... maybe on second thought....

Yep I wake up each morning to my dog laying at the foot of my bed either balled up in a little circle or on her back all four feet in the air.
Spoiled rotten and sleeps more than my wifes cat. |

I feel the same way - I figure a potential burgular will trip over them in the dark.
Or, they'll go to pieces so fast the burgular will get hit by the shrapnel

Well, at least they are large enough to be a trip hazard. My 8 pounder sounds all vicious when someone is outside the house, but she'd go all to pieces and hide (behind me) if someone actually came in.

I don't see how the hiding is gonna help, you're not much bigger than she is

My favorite is when something goes bump in the night and my 150lb Akita looks at me like “You should really go check that out”

That's exactly how my Lab was. She heard something, she'd stare at you to go check it out while she hid.
My Boxer is funny. If he hears a strange noise he growls and barks, but if a stranger walks up to him, he licks them to death. He is skittish if the stranger is wearing sunglasses though. I can wear mine and he is cool with that, but if it's someone he has never met, they need to take the sunglasses off before he will warm up to them. |

I am not giving him full credit. Sometimes he is an excellent guard dog but when he looks at me like that I think hey buddy, earn your keep.
