It looks like the kid was still working at Apple tho, so maybe they didnt fire him yet.
Im curious as to what the differences will be. |

Seems like a lot of people dont believe that the Phone was simply found but that Gizmodo stole it or had somebody steal it somehow. I dont know about that but if it was found the guy who had it should have gotten more than $5000 for it.

Id be amazed if the guy keeps his job, Im sure Steve Jobs would send him to Guantanamo if he could. If he doesnt get fired then it probale means this was a PR leak by Apple.

People make mistakes and this had to factor into their "risk assessment" when deciding to give it to him. |

This is why is smells of marketing. Apple R&D is anal and close-guarded about their products in development. They don't just hand out prototypes to anyone in their employ; that's why some young employee losing it somewhere is far-fetched to me.

I dont know, why did they kill the software so fast if they wanted it "out there." Sounds like he was beta testing it and fucked up huge. They went through a lot of trouble to make it look like a 3GS with the specifically made case too.
If he was working on the phone capabilities software, it would seem that he would need a field device to test it. |

Yup. They're really concerned about security, but they just happened to let a project engineer take a phone home and play with it anyway, because, hey, that's what you do with crucial prototypes, and it just happened to be picked up by somebody who can precisely identify every iteration of iphone and could tell it was a prototype... mmmhm.

If the guy is who they say he is in the article, it would not be unheard of for him to have a development device. He is one of the most important guys in the phone being a phone. |
