I'm scared to tether since you have a limit on how much bandwith you can use. I dont want to get a $500 phone bill.

Sync em to your google account. Also the first step of rooting is making a backup image of your current setup

Yup t mobile is unlimited data usage, I use mine to tether to my laptop all the time, its not what I would call fast, maybe slightly faster than 56k, depending on the connection.
