For me the potency is waaaaay too high in the edible form, and its too hard to know how much to eat to reach the desired effect. The effects can last easily 10x as long if you eat it vs. smoking it....and I have no desire to be stoned out of my gourd for 24+ hours. However, if you're using for severe pain relief from cancer or something else then eating it would definitely be the way to go. You simply can not get half as high by smoking as you can by eating.

I prefer to smoke it or vaporize it, I don't worry about cancer anymore than you worry about dying on your motorcycle. I can still go 3 5-minute rounds on the mat without getting winded. I can ride a bicycle 40+ miles in a decent amount of time. I'm a good jogger, etc. etc....so it can't really be all that bad. I've been using for over a decade now.

I'm not attacking you VatorMan...but Jesus....who comes up with this stuff? Marijuana must be the single most misunderstood anything EVER.

So much for that bullshit fucking argument against legalization, huh?
I'd like to see the stats on this.

I'm not saying it isn't true I just have a hard time wrapping my head around it.

Using your algebra from our cocaine debate:

Drugs illegal = X users.

Drugs legal = X - Y users.

Therefore, Y users use drugs BECAUSE they are illegal.

Y don't use drugs for pleasure, or to alleviate pain or any other reason except to break the law? I don't buy it.

Another thing the documentary mentioned that I think would be true if MJ was legal. The casual user would never come in contact with harder drugs. They wouldn't be buying from the big bad drug dealers, they would be going into a legal store buying legal drugs and probably would never run across cocaine or meth. That could cut down on the truely bad side of drugs by a lot. Less people getting addicted to the hard shit.

OK- I see the studies. Do we all agree smoking tobacco causes lung cancer? WTF is different except what kind of leaf it is? One kind of leafy substance causes tar but another doesn't ? I have to go back a bit but I sure do remember having to scrape residue off my car windows after a period of (ahem) smoky enjoyment.

They found a lot of the chemicals in tobacco smoke. 118 carcinogens from combustion, only 2 carcinogens from vaporizing. One reason they think it's much less likely is THC may kill aging cells, the cells that would go cancerous.

One study I found, found that pot smokers are more likely to develop teste cancer though.

A good prtion of that show was rehashed (what?) from some Nat Geo stuff earlier this year.

Personally, I am more interested in the medical aspect of it. I don't partake in any fashion currently (it is also doubtful I would even if it were legal). I do however think it should be legalized for the same reasons as many others.
