Default a 1 truck wreck = # of deaths in CO shooting

http://www.click2houston.com/news/13...z/-/index.html

GOLIAD, Texas - Thirteen people died and another 10 were injured after their crowded pickup truck left a highway and crashed into trees in a rural South Texas community Sunday, authorities said.

The Ford F-250 pickup was heading north on U.S. 59 when it struck two large trees Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the unincorporated community of Berclair, about 100 miles southeast of San Antonio, said Gerald Bryant, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS officials said a dozen people were taken to various hospitals in San Antonio, Victoria, and Corpus Christi. Bryant said several of the surviving victims had life-threatening injuries. He did not have their conditions, but said he believed them to be "very serious."

The agency said 23 people, including some children, were in the cab and bed of the truck.

Eleven people died at the scene and two more died after being taken to a hospital. Two of the victims were described as "very young."

State troopers and Goliad County sheriff's investigators were investigating what prompted the crash and have not released names and ages of the victims.

"It's been very chaotic here, and it's very traumatic," Bryant told the San Antonio Express-News. "It's only first responders out here, and it's very solemn."

Crash investigators were still at the scene late Sunday night assessing the crash, which halted traffic on U.S. 59.

Crazy, but at the same time there is a huge difference between accidental death and a murder spree.

But yeh still pretty crazy

Twenty
Three
People

...in one truck.

Well, they did say "Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the border patrol were assisting in the investigation." so it could be trafficking illegals. But you'd think they'd be trying to be a little less conspicuous than carrying that many people in a regular passenger vehicle on the highway. Border Patrol vehicles patrol the main roads up from the border, and DPS would have pulled them over purely on unsafe driving grounds.

Goliad is a shithole. I'm not shocked it happened. I'm shocked it got reported as news.
