I use zip ties in addition to bolts to hold my license plate on. Almost lost it once when 1 bolt fell out so now I keep the zip ties on there just in case.

Aside from holding various wiring, I only use zip-ties on my forks to see where I'm bottoming, and to keep the hamsters from flying off my spokes.
