But some dogs DO better in one crate. My bro-in-law keeps his 2 dogs together... when you look at them in there, they are usually laying against each other. Depends on the dog(s).

I've never owned a dog that had to be crated longer than 4-5 months until Rocky. He just turned 2 and in another month or two we'll start working on his freedom again. We've tried 2-3 times now and failed. In the process of failing we have completely lost a couch and all of the linoleum on the kitchen floor. His ass will be crated until he stops destroying expensive shit....and it's not lack of exercise or attention, he just gets bored those 7 hours alone and finds something fun to occupy himself with.

Max loves his den (crate)....He's waiting at the door to the mudroom every morning as I'm getting ready to leave for the day...knowing he's gonna get a cookie, the safety of his den and a big nap. He eats that shit up. I leave at 7'ish....my daughter gets home around 3:30 and let's him out....he's well adjusted and happy as can be.
