I stopped at Blackman Cycle today and they were running a sale on all in stock merchandise, anywhere from 10%-50% off.

They had about 15 pair of Alpine Star boots in the 50% off area and one pair in my size.

I purchased $109.95 Ridge for $54.98

Finally got a chance to wear the Ridge boots today when I rode to work. The short boot ( 8" )pressed against my shin and was extremely uncomfortable.

I took them back to Blackmans and upgraded to AlpineStar S-MX5 for an additional $47

These come up higher and are more plyable.

My gear's old for various reasons:

Jacket - Leather: Teknic Chicane (from 2000)
Jacket - Mesh: Fieldsheer Mach 4
Helmet: Shoei RF800
Gloves - Leather: Teknic... somethings. Lightweight, good feel. Icon... something elses. A little thicker, decent padding, shit construction.
Boots: Icon Superduty. Falling apart, more garbage (never again with Icon)

Ended up tossing my RX7RR Colin Edwards rep when the trim pieces fell off, and gave my Icon Mainframe away because I hated it. Also gave away some Icon TiMax gloves to my friend because I wasn't too thrilled with them, just lost my bike, and he had absolutely no gear except a helmet.

Next bike gets a mandatory upgrade in my gear.

ya know, if the trim fell off, you could have sent it to Arai, and they would have fixed it for you, free of charge.

The helmet was also from '99. As much as I loved that thing, replacing the trim pieces on a '99 helmet in 2007 only solves the superficial stuff. The helmet served me well for almost a decade. I couldn't have asked for more.

Ok, maybe I could have asked for the helmet to not be $600. Half that woulda been nice.
