My experience with it is that it finds drivers better than windows, installs easier, is more stable, doesn't require all kinds of security add-on shit, is easy to use, leverages resources better, is open source, and totally free, and comes in many flavors (like Ubuntu Studio for artists).

For the record, I'm an old fart stuck in my ways using ancient fucking software on XP.

That said, everyone that isn't a fucking fossil stuck in their ways that I've hooked up with it fucking loves it.

Not possible. This is a VP's Win7 system. She also has a MacBook (O/S derived from FreeBSD) and can have literally whatever other systems and operating systems she wants.

Use AVG Free or Avast. They're pretty slim.
AVG fucking blows. Its like a screen door. That shit programlet more stuff in my old laptop than anything I've ever seen. My new vaio came with microsoft security center and I love it. When my brothers Norton ran out, I put Avira on his because I hard Avast had its problems. He hadn't had any problems either. It just gives you pop ups to upgrade it every day.

Wasn't referring to Ubuntu, I like Ubuntu.

Was talking about the piece of shit software this thread is referring to, Symantec Endwork Protection.

It literally takes my laptop 40 minutes to boot up fully with all the shit they put on our WinXP PCs at work.

Never had a problem with AVG and it has, by far, been the most successful against the fake antivirus browser hijacks of any that I've used. McAfee Corporate is positively porous, by comparison. Avast is pretty good.

If you check in Task Manager, it's undoubtedly spiking your CPU to 100%. It seems to be quite the memory hog too, though that tends to be less of a concern these days.

AVG sucks donkey dong because its grown and is like the other big company antivirus programs. Shit wants to run in the background even when you have it turn off in msconfig, it under "startup" or "services." You cant even stop it with end process in task manager. Its getting deleted tonight.
