Never met him so no opinion on the man....but I will say it fucking sucks to be as rich as you want and still be sick and dying. That's bullshit.

Would Apple have gotten where it is, and come out with the products it did, if some generic MBA-type of CEO like Roger Smith or Jack Welch were in charge? I doubt it.

I would characterize it as annoyance, rather than hate. I can't really hate a guy who was involved in creating the industry, in which I work.

Pretty much. But sometimes that's what you need, in order to make an impact. Otherwise you end up making cookie-cutter products.

If a generic CEO were in charge of Apple, they never would have invested as much into their design department, or given them as much control.

Apple has led the way in forcing the business world to realize that people want products that actually look good as well as feel good in the hand. We are seeing other industries follow suit (cars, appliances, furniture, etc.).

The fact that Jobs was such a dick about control/sharing/iTunes etc is a separate issue IMO.
