If it's worth over $10k though, we're at least going to be on a first-name basis. So for this thread I'll take "I'll loan to close friends or family."
Same here. I've been fortunate so far and haven't had much trouble. I have to consider how much other people (even strangers) have helped me out to get me where I'm at in my life when loaning things out.

my race bike has been ridden by more racers than Tater's ex wife.

I'm pretty generous with my stuff - depending on who you are.

I don't have much to lend out...and no one really asks, but I am pretty open with my stuff also. If I do lend stuff out its to close friends and family. I never had to deny someone because they were crappy drivers/riders.

I have lent out my car, bike, books and crappy clothes. I don't lend out my nice clothes though. No one really asks to borrow money though I have offered when I know someone is in a bind. A lot of people have stayed over my apt- I just ask that they make themselves at home so I don't have to go running around getting stuff/serving.

My KTM LC4? Sure. Here's the key. If you can reach the ground, you can ride it.

My Ducati, or my vintage stuff...fuck you, take the bus. That shit don't grow on trees.

I'm actually pretty picky about who I would loan things like a bike and car to. I either need to know you well and trust you or I wouldn't consider it. It's not about the money but in a way it is. My car is my daily transportation to work, so if someone messes that up my job is in jeopardy..

On the other hand, sometimes I give my bike keys out the first time I meet you....

It depends on who it is and how they've treated shit before. I've had bad experiences, so rarely loan shit out anymore. Usually only to people who are willing to reciprocate, or who I know will take care of stuff.

I voted "rarely" in the poll. It has to be someone I really trust for me to loan anything of value to them.

To family yes. I will do anything for family. Some friends as well. I didn't like people looking sideways at my R6 but I let my uncle ride it. He also let me ride his bikes. His friend also let me take off on his new bike.

My buddy was down for a few days and I was showing him my bike. I let him and his kids sit on it. They were loving it. Out of no where I asked my buddy if he wanted to take it for a spin. It was a few years since he had his bike. He jumped at that chance. I took it out my driveway, have him my gear and let him go. I was stressed like a mofo after about 2 minutes but he had the time of his life. I let my brother in law ride it as well. He had an R1 he was using that night that I took out while he was riding mine.

Anyone else it would depend. I would rather not give someone random something of value, then I don't have to worry about them fucking up.
