Tempting... I told her that unless she complies, she can find someone else to ride with. Trust me, I'm VERY serious. The first time I said verbal/ernest prayers to God for her to be alive/okay as I turned around. I honestly had tears in my eyes when I finally saw her fiddling with her radar detector on the side of the road...

I know some people who would benefit from artificial common sense... that count?

Sena SMH10

Scala G4

http://www.cardosystems.com/us/scala...er-g4-powerset

I'm torn between the two because I respect Nick's opinion about the Sena BUT the Scala has a wired mic-much better for full face. The Sena offers this for another $40 ea. The Scala also claims a one mile working range vs the Sena's 1/2 mile. Plus the Scala includes a FM radio built in. I've already ordered BT dongles for my GPS and radar detector... It's a tough call but I have some time to think. One good thing is that Ron Ayers carries the Scala, so I might try it out and if I don't like it I can return it no problem and buy the Sena.

FWIW anything similar from J&M would cost about $700 not including the $200 ea headsets that I already have!!!!!!!!

I have two headsets, so we would need two of these $200 ea,

http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....7EDR-RCH&PF=30

I would need one of these just to get back to having my GPS(Garmin 855T) and radar detector(Valentine 1) hooked up. Basically, this replaces my current unit $300.

http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....LU-DNG01&PF=30

She should be able to use a dongle for her radar detector (Escort Passport 8500) and her phone is BT. If I rewire my radar detector(V1) back to stock, I guess that I could also use dongles for it and my GPS but I would be VERY nervous!!! One positive aspect is that both the Scala and Sena units come with 3.5mm jacks that I could plug my V1 in to for added piece of mind.

that's right... my bad... I was actually freaking out for a bit after posting that thinking I hadn't paid Derf... LOL

yeah the sena new model enabling the use of FRS radio's is the way I'm going...

Yep same with my wife and me.

YES it would bug me if she did stuff like that. I'm with Tig...I'd get a sick feeling in my stomach thinking something bad had happened. Of course I'd be pizzed once I realized that she just happened to go sightseeing.

Call Sena or the retailer you use for it, they will put the headset that you want in your dual kit for no additional cost. You won't get the regular headset, you will get the one of your choice. So if you want one detached mic speaker headset and one attached mic earbud headset, they will mix and match for you.

They have awesome customer service.

1/2 mile sounds about right for the Sena. It's a good distance. It worked well in straight sections. You will lose signal no matter how powerful very quickly in the twisties. Even on multi-mile FRS radios, they don't work through mountains.

I can hit up my friend at Newenough and see if he'll test some out. I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
