There isn't any way in hell I would lift my bike with those tiny straps.

That's how I lift mine up. I have a couple hooks in the ceiling of my garage and use those straps to lift it off the ground for maintenance. Granted, I don't lift it more than a few inches off the ground, but I use those straps to do the job.
