all the chain companies make a 630, fuck oem. go with did or rk, or whatever your personal choice is. ek, regina, etc.
they came with 630's back in the day cuz chain tech wasnt as good as it is now. a 530 conversion would shed some weight, and be just as strong if not stronger than the oem 630. but its not needed if you already got both sprockets and chain all in gd condition. |

That 630 is a beast....but Im with the majority. 70 ft lbs...good numbers...but a modern day 520 would laugh at that. Chains are pretty damn strong now a days. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

My RC51 has 70 foot/pounds also and came stock with a 530. People use 520 on them all the time. The only weak link in a 520 kit is the alum. rear sprocket. If you used a steel rear sprocket there will not be a weak link.
That being said the 530 will work great and be lighter than stock. I have had trouble and know others that have had trouble with RK chains. The rollers fall off them and leave just the pin. They also do not stand by there warranty at all. Avoid RK like Like your life depends on it my chain broke o the highway in traffic. It had 10 rollers missing and had been inspected and lubed less than 1 hour before it fell apart. I have used EK and DID with no problems at all. |

I may do a 530 conversion eventually, I'm just not certain when. I like the appearance of beef on a bike like mine, not really sure why, but everything about it says beefy mofo.

coming from the guy who gets a whopping 18mpg on his rc? just playin man.
smallest conversion kit I can get is a 530 chain for this bike. not that I mind anyhow, I dont feel comfortable with a 520 on my bike. |
