BS I have driven lots of times on icy and snowy roads that haven't been salted or plowed, and I have never owned winter tires.

And we have snow... Got a few flakes on the windshield heading home from work/gym. Not heavy or anything since it's Texas, but it qualifies as "snow" to us.

I woke up to 12" of snow this morning. Our first snow fall of the season and it was a big one and it's still snowing right now. We could end up to close to 2 ft of snow by tomorrow morning.
