There was a time that I loved the Bimmers. Even the funky switch gear. Still do, from a styling point of view, but ergonomically speaking they just don't work for me anymore. Something about how much they love those tall, flat tanks.

I've never even sat on a BMW so I have no frame of reference. I just know it looks bad ass.

My buddy threw a carb and an exhaust on his and the thing rips and sounds awesome. Good power for what it is, too.

I took it on the highway and even there it cruises comfortably at 75. It tops out at like 110 or so.

Awesome in the city too, it's like playing a video game

I used to own a K75RT back in the early '90s and it was a great bike. It was a former BMW Canada demo bike that had literally every option available and I picked it up fairly cheap, with full warranty. I test rode maybe a half dozen different models up until 2001, but nothing since. Just sitting on them at trade shows is a much different feel from even the older R1100RS.

He said it didn't make enough power for him...he really wanted a KTM or Husky SM...but the DRZ came at him at a steal of a deal so he bought it...and ultimatley doesn't like it.

I'm shooting for a Triumph when bike time comes again. Maybe a speed triple or a bonnie.

Bah. Lucy only has 31,000 miles on her. I won't be thinking about another bike for a very long time.

I really haven't thought about what I would get next. I pretty much like what I have for the $$.

We did talk about having 4 bikes in the garage so maybe a couple of Victory's or a Star Raider and a Victory Kingpin 8 - Ball ?

We want two sportbikes and two cruisers.

I hear ya.

For me personally, the DRZ has more than enough power... with a carb and pipe those things screw pretty good IMO. It will do highway speeds comfortably, and the handling is a friggin blast in the twisties, not to mention the motard hooliganry.

The other factor is that the KTM's and Husky's (at least the ones that are streetable and don't require a TON of maintenance) are about 2-3 times the cost of the DRZ.
