I got my KTM for $5k, it weighs exactly the same as the DRZ and has 20 more hp. But, it is a lot more maintainence, and a lot more finicky. I fix one issue, take it to the track, and another issue pops up. That having been said I wouldn't trade my KTM for a DRZ.

I had a chance to help an acquaintance breaking his in. The HP2 Sport is well balanced unlike most of the other boxer twins and pretty low to the ground. I hate the hump-the-football riding position on sport bikes in general, but I can almost live with the HP2 Sport.

Would I buy one? No. Not while it still have the shaft drive. That flat twin in that state of tune may be down a hair on power, but it has so much torque that you can race on 3rd gear. The handling is superb and so is the fuel injection. But that shaft drive just took the fun out of this bike.

Was there a lot of shaft torque effect on the bike?

I am still kicking around the sport tourer... Still like the sportbikes, love the raw power!!! Its just that all the aches and pains, surgeries and assorted other metal that body now has.... make the riding postion difficult to handle for more that 30 minutes. I love to ride but hate the pain, so looking for something more comfortable.

I rode to the UP of Michigan in October, with two guys I work with at the TSA.. Very nice unpopulated area.... logged about 1900 miles in 5 days.. It was on that trip that I decided the GSXR must go.

That's pretty much in line with the info I've heard as well... however my DRZ will be street-only which is why it's the perfect choice for me.

I may putt around on it at a track day if I feel like it but other than that, pure street machine.

Ever ride a 'tard on the track? If you haven't I highly recommend trying it at least once. But yeah, they make really good street bikes.

Only once... it was fucking fun

I'm storing my buddy's race tard that we're building up at my garage for the winter and I'll be helping him wrench on it... maybe he'll let me do a race or two on it a weekend

That is, until I grab my own race tard...
