How many babies do they have at one time?

Wait, no I wasn't.

Yep.

Have had ones that I could put on the floor and he wouldn't move. Had other ones that should wide receivers for their ability to out smart me.

let me get this right:
furry
low maintence
can be left alone without ruining your shit
snuggle worthy
wife has to approve
wife doesn't want to walk it
No birds
no reptiles

I've got your answer! You want a rug!

When I say pig, I mean guinea pig. But that one is cool, too.

small furry,not dog best I've had was ferret. second best was female rat. No biting at all from the rat. yeah I know the tail bothers people.

now I know you said no dogs but is there a chance you could put a pet door on the house and a outdoor kennel. my dog has her crate in the porch but she can go out into a 12 x 12 kennel I built for her. that way if I'm gone for 10 hours she still has mobility and potty breaks. then when i get home she gets to go run with me. Definitely don't let her run the house, she's a 50lb tornado when we're not home. LOL
otherwise how about a cat? that would probably be my second choice. after dog, then after cat would be ferret.
