Default Emergency surgery...done.

Removed the tumor that had taken up residence in my right ear canal and bone surrounding it. Nothing left inside of the ear, skin graft to make a "New" eardrum and the inner ear damage is extensive, but the doctor says I should be Ok in time. I have a lot of damage to the systems that control equillibrium and its possible that I willl never ride again. When I asked him if the tumor was "big" he said it was like asking the "Octomom" if she was a little pregnant...

Glad you got that out of your head. Even more glad to hear that it can be possibly put somewhat back in order with a graft. Hoping that you can recover the balance you need to ride again, bro.

Wow, so close to the brain, glad it didn't spread any further. I take it that hearing or balance difficulties was what caused you to get checked out?

Thanks everybody. I was having headaches and finally was dizzy alot. I actually had a tumor in the same place when I was young and they think this was some of the first tumor that was left or a piece of infected tissue that was missed. Because of the extensive damage the first tumor did, I had no feeling and very little hearing in my right ear, so I had no idea that there was a problem until it was almost too late. They figure this tumor had been growing for 28 years.

Glad to hear that they got it all. That's the most important thing.

If it's going to be an issue riding, consider a Can-Am Spyder. For something with two front wheels, it feels remarkably bike-like.
