If you think that me allowing my son to be a female character for Halloween is somehow going to ‘make’ him gay then you are an idiot. Firstly, what a ridiculous concept. Secondly, if my son is gay, OK. I will love him no less. Thirdly, I am not worried that your son will grow up to be an actual ninja so back off.
Bravo!

Yeh while I can understand her reason #9, I really disagree with her choice, and because her son is flaming. It's more an issue of social acceptance. I dont mind embarressing my kids, but I wouldnt let them make that decision. At 5 years old the only decision my kid makes is when he wants to go to the bathroom.

This is a case of letting the kid be the parent.

Even if it is not right to bully, 5 years old is not the time to let your kid take social stands for cross gender acceptance.

Who says the kid was taking a stand? His fave character is Daphne, so he wanted to be Daphne. He isn't wearing a billboard for gay rights or making any kind of statement other than dressing up like the character he wants to be. I'm with the Mom, if I as a lil girl wanted to dress up as Batman (or GI joe, which I did, Duke actually *gasp*) everyone would think it's cute, whats the difference? Does it make me transgendered to want to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle too?

First, where is the kid's Dad?

Second, the kid had enough sense once he put the costume on to realize that something wasnt right about him dressing like a girl but the mom convinced him to go ahead anyway.

Third, he might be gay but if hes not when hes older hes going to be pretty pissed that his mom let him dress like that, let him pose for a photo, and then posted it on the internet. Especially when the other kids in his HS find the picture.

Wouldn't that make you trans-species?
