Default HUD for motorcycle helmets?

Does this exist and if not, why not?

This is at CES this year, ski goggles with a built in heads up display.

The technology is obvioulsy there. Just expect to pay a minimum of $100 more per helmet if you want that feature.

Considering that most helmets are in the $200-$500 range, that kind of increase is a little steep for most to swallow.

I like the idea but I want my helmet to really focus on keeping my noggin intact. If I have to glance at the instruments for a half second, so be it.

I've seen some primitive displays for sale, usually just a light or blinking light, but nothing really more than that, the next connie 14 is supposed to have a display in the windshield, and possibly a bluetooth connection for a kawasaki branded helmet. There are also some home brew versions around teh internet if you look

Aftermarket HUD's have been around for years for MC helmets. Usually include speed, tach, and gear indicator. Haven't seen any helmets with a built-in OEM though, probably too narrow a market to attempt that.

I cant imagine that the market for ski goggles with HUD is larger than the market for helmets with HUD. There are professionals and amatures in every type of motorsport who would be interested in something like this.

As for price, I think its a much tougher sell to add a $200 premium on a pair of $90 goggles than it is to add it to a $300 helmet.

How many styles and sizes of ski goggles are there compared to helmets though? Gear retailers have a hard enough time selling all the varying graphics each year, much less adding the option of HUD.

What graphics do you match the HUD with to satisfy demand? How much will it impact R&D costs to have one included as OEM? The risk and development cost impact of selling HUD aftermarket is much smaller.

Someone needs to make a wireless (bluetooth?) helmet with HUD.

They can put that shit in tiny things like computer mice, it should fit in a helmet.

I see an opportunity for someone to make some money here in a niche market.

I would like to see at least: Tach, Speedo, Gear Indicator, Turn Signal

Id buy one as long as it was fully integrated into the helmet and not an add on.

I could see it working maybe as an add-on from the mfg... like all helmets come with a shitty clear sheild and we all buy the tinted/iridium or whatever... sheild HUD kit - bluetooth...
