Duc Hunting PTII
Well, I bagged one. A 2001 900SS, Yellow w/5100 miles.
The poor baby had lived outside and was used as a commuter. Needs some love, but should work out well. A bit of a mini project. I have never seen a Duc this dirty... This pic was fresh off the truck, well after Nancy and I took a short ride on it. Last edited by was92v; 05-14-2010 at 08:24 PM.. |

did you get it for a good price? Looks pretty good from here.
an 8 year old commuter with only 5100 miles? I was never a fan of the 2000 restyle. Gimme a mid nineties 900SS.

Thanks guys. Yeah the grunge doesn't show up too much in the pic, but it was and still is pretty dirty. I gave it a bath as is and now I need to remove the body work and do it again or more. The paint has some scratches but they are cleaning up pretty well. Screws and bolts missing or loose here and there. mechanically everything works but the rear brake. I haven't looked at it yet, but the guy I got it from said it needs a master cylinder. I found one online for $56.00 if that turns out to be what it is. Ordered a set of D&D carbon boom tubes today (sorry Azoomm). The chain is working OK, but was rusted bad... so it is going to need to be replaced and a set of tires soon. i could use a new seat cover at some point, but all in all I think it will be good.
"""did you get it for a good price? Looks pretty good from here. I think I did OK, $3K an 8 year old commuter with only 5100 miles? What can I say? He has a car too. When I say commuter, I mean he rode it around town, to school etc, but obviously not every day or very far. I was never a fan of the 2000 restyle. Gimme a mid nineties 900SS.""" Me either, but after hanging around it, it sorta grows on ya. I going to pull the plastic off tonight and start fixing stuff. |
