So realistically, how much could you build an AR yourself for? Seems as if that could be the cheaper route... especially in the long run...

Current prices and if you can find the parts? Who knows.

I put mine together for ~$775, not including magazines, 2 years ago(?).

now is not the time to get into AR's. they are going 2-3x what they should cost.

if you can get the important parts even.

then there's the ammo shortage.

I was just curious... ONSSP almost bought me an AR for Christmas instead of the shotgun, but she did right, because I really wanted the shotgun... however, she's mentioned a few times that she should have bought it so we could have sold it and doubled our money... To which I responded, "yeah, but then I'd buy more motorcycle parts and other guns." To which, she responds... "glad you like your shotgun." lol

Back before prices got crazy you could easily buy kits containing everything except the lower for less than $500 no problem and lowers were available for under $100 (before transfer fees). As an example Del-ton offered a bunch of kits for different configurations, each having a ton of options. There is a link below where you can check them out but everything is out of stock with no backorders.

I bought four complete polymer lowers last summer @ 109.00 as a hedge in case Obama got reelected. I just got in two complete uppers @ 499.00 each. So 610.00 each for two 5.56 ARs to shoot steel case out of since I'm not going to run that stuff through a 3,000 KAC.

Lowers were New Frontier

Uppers were from AIM

Yes looking to do an SBR and supressor in 300 blk.
