Street legal? I could see doing that if you lived only a few miles from Palomar.......If not, the ride TO Palomar would suck on a 125.

It'll go close to 100. No worse than the Ninjette, except handles a lot better.

If you wanted a 125 2-stroke track bike you just wasted a big chunk of money, pal.

I've been wasting money since I began making money.

And I'm sure you've ridden the Aprilia to know that, right?

that's fine, I would just suggest wasting it on something else for those purposes.

I don't need to ride it. That aprilia is based off their euro street bike version. It's nothing to be interested in for track riding.

And I also don't need to ride it to know that:

Aprilia RS125: 28hp, 260lb

Honda RS125: 40hp, 160lb

That's a no-brainer.

My buddy just picked up one of the Hondas with a ton of spares, including cylinder heads and a bottom end, for 3k. I can't wait to ride it

I've got a friend just outside Ottawa who has something like 8 RS125s and TZ125s that range from the early to mid 1990s in manufacture. He used to run a racing school up here.

The track only version of the Aprillia is a darned sight lighter and makes better horsepower

I still recall even the track-only aprilias needing a decent amount of work, both engine and weightsavings, to be competitive with the hondas and yamis, no?

And trying to get that street version ape competitive, well, you can just forget about it.

The Aprillias are more temperamental. At least they take a different sort of finagling than do the Yamis and Hondas. They also seem to have higher potential rewards, from what I've seen on the track. They all take someone who is willing to put in the work, on a daily basis.

What the hell. 2-strokes tuning is all black magic anyway.

Black magic... seriously...

it's like you need to pull the piston, it needs to be a medium mocha with a hint of caramel color, cloverleaf shaped burn marks, two shiny spots at 10 and 2, etc....

and what's funny is that what I just described is true
