We ran into a "checkpoint" back in November on our way from Lake Lure to Asheville. It was a couple state troopers. I think they just asked me for my drivers license.

Why?
Is there even a fine for this?

In ND you have to be 10 over before there is a monetary fine IIRC.

In NY there's a fine just for gettng a fine. I wish I were kiding.
As anyone who has ever gotten a ticket here can attest, the "court fee" they tack on to every infraction is off the freakin' charts.

Even for something like 2 over, and even if there is no fine for the offense itself, the court fee will be anywhere from 80 to 100 bucks.

Yep same in Pa. The extra fees are what make the ticke expensivee. The court fee, the EMS fee, etc. The list is extensive. Everyone gets a piece of the pie.

She is a little skeptical. We have agreed that that bike will be more for weekend and group rides rather than commuting back and forth to work everyday. She is more comfortable with me riding with other people than riding alone. I'm sure I;ll get on the bike now and then just to ride it to work though.

Already been out a few times, showing the hubby the ropes. Still too damn cold but reasonably enjoyable at lower speeds. Now if only the sun would come out and stay out we'd be golden.
