Default Video Editing Software

Anyone have any recommendations for Video Editing Software? I tried Ulead's free version but wasn't convinced it was too great and not convinced enough to drop $80 on it for the full version. I have several hours of video to put into movie format on DVD. Mostly the WOS Dragon Trip from 2007. What I want to do is create chapters for each different day and area that we went to and put music to the video. Seems simple enough. Oh and also I want to add text at the bottom that says www.wideopensportbikes.com

I am sure someone out there is a video editing guru.

I edit video every day. How professional do you want to get? I've used Avid and Final Cut Pro...both are extremely expensive. I use Windows Movie Maker for home shit...it basically sucks.

Adobe Premier isn't bad.

Agreed.

However, I'm far from anything of an expert @ Vid Editing.

Well I don't mind dropping say $50-$100.. I don't want to get super professional - more like moderate amateur - because the camera I am using to tape shit is low grade - its like a $400 video camera.. so something with good features - mainly:

1. Ability to split like Windows Movie Maker
2. Ability to do chapters
3. Ability to add music or narration or whatever and adjust the levels - i.e. leave the bike sound in with the music or switch back and forth
4. Ability to add text across the bottom during the whole movie and not frame by frame

Basically I don't want to edit frame by frame I want to edit clip by clip. I like that feature of Windows Movie Maker where it creates clips - not always perfect clips - and also the ability to split so you can edit out when Mudpuppy got drunk, fell down, dropped the camera, checked if it was still working for 10 minutes, dropped it again, fell down trying to get the camera, etc.

damn Adobe Premiere Pro is $799.. Creative Suite 3 is $1,699.. guess I will keep looking unless someone has some other suggestions.. either that or drop the $80 on Ulead's full version to see how it works..

i don't mind paying just don't really want to pay more than $100 or in that range.. shit the camera was like $300-$400.. mfp.. i don't need anything too elaborate.. just something that will allow me to add music, chapters and text..
