Default Video from my homemade drone.

When I was a kid I was into R/C planes, I built two planes and flew one once. I just didnt have the money to do more or access to a flying field unless I got someone to drive me 30 minutes away. Earlier this year I discovered that theres sort of a home-brew UAV movement going on based on inexpensive electic planes and multirotors with onboard computer autopilots and I decided to give it another try, I though it might be a good way to do some aerial photography.

My plane: It has a full autopilot that lets it fly autonomously and a data link to transmit information from the flight computer to the ground in real time. Plus a GoPro camera with an AV out feed going to a video transmitter which sends live video to the ground.

Heres some video from this week:

This video shows what I see on the ground station, the onboard video is from a cheap keychain camera:

My Quadcopter: This doesnt have a full autopilot in it yet, but it does have a flight controller that can auto stabilize and maintain a chosen altitude and heading.

Awesome, you should of been posting this stuff earlier, it rocks.

If it wasn't for the arcade I would totally be building a quadcopter

The local Muslim community is going freak the fuck out, when they hear there's a black dude with a fleet of drones in town.

Pretty frakkin sweet. You might be able to make some $$$ off of that doing building/ area flyovers.

Thanks. There are a ton of uses for a cheap aerial camera, noting I have yet is good enough for commercial use but I do want to try fish spotting from my friend's boat. I just need a more compact vehicle.

I had a little accident at the beach a few weeks ago when I flew out of radio range and my quad fell into the water. Some people saw it and asked if were were from homeland security
