I have these and have had these for years...

If you put jeans/pants over them, then they look like normal shoes. They seem to be built tough and feel as if they'd stay on in a crash and even provide some ankle protection. You can walk around them all day and I've even worn them out on the town.

I've actually added a Dr Schols insert to them and they feel even better. If you want a shoe, I'd look into the shift shoes.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the do feel kind of heavy when you grab them but I don't even notice the extra weight while wearing them.
