That photo makes it look better than it really does. It is huge and hideous, but other than the 500lb weight penalty the engine can now survive a nuclear holocaust, and there is a hinged door to flip out the oil filter

That one looks good, but I don't understand the filter door. Why even have a door, when most normal people would take the whole thing off to change the filter. Otherwise oil is going to drip down inside that skidplate and stay there.

I think you could drop some paper towels down under the filter to prevent too much spillage. Or you could leave it and have it look like my skid plate, with a light coat of oil covered in dirt keeping the aluminum pan rust free
