Just saw it tonight, very good movie.

If there was a line dividing the ending between being reality or a dream I think theres one thing that pushes it onto the dream side: Cobb didnt know how he got there.

When he wakes up on the plane he seems surprised to see everyone and we never see how he escaped. Then, when hes at the house with his kids he walks into the room and looks around surprised to be there. I think in both cases he would be unable to explain how he got there and thus must be in a dream.

He got there because they fell off the bridge and it woke them back up to reality.

I thought maybe the kids were in the same clothes just to portray that everything came around full circle?

When they fell off the bridge he was still asleep in the van. The last thing they showed was Cobb and Old Saito talking to each other in limbo.

Same position?
Same clothes?
Same everything?

The only difference was that he saw their faces at the end. Otherwise everything was identical.

Do you remember the purpose of the totem?
he had the spinning top, the other guy had the loaded die, the girl had the chess piece....
Bingo, the kids hadn't aged and they were wearing the same clothes The kids on the phone call sounded much older. He had to have been stuck in a dream. Now the question is where did he enter the dream. After he tried the chemist's strong potion, we see him splash his face with water and spin the top... but it falls off the counter and you never see it stop. The dream could have started with that "powerful" sedative. My brother thinks he remembers the top falling again later in their warehouse, so he could have entered the dream in one of his single sessions.

The totem was to let you know whether you were in a dream or not. Only the totems carrier could know the exact weight and feel of the item or it could be cast against you in a dream. Of course the top would continually spin in a dream, and fall in reality.

I believe Cobb and old Saito kill themselves to free themselves from limbo.

But I believe technically if it was real, his father drove him home from the airport.

Limbo, and here are my thoughts:

Mol was a projection of his subconscious trying to send him back to reality. She was always trying to foil his dreams in order for him to wake up.

When Cobb was explaining to Ellen Paige the story of Mol, we never see the children's faces. Even when he is remembering "actual" events, we never see the faces. He only sees the faces when he believes he is back in reality.

Fischer and his projections were actually Cobb's projections trying to wake him up. In fact, all the antagonists to Cobb were his own projections trying to pull him out of limbo.

Or not. This was a great movie for the fact that we don't know what was real and what wasn't. Maybe it was the autistic kid from St. Elsewhere dreaming the whole thing.

Movie was entertaining, but crap.

The 'kick' is supposed to be the sensation of falling to wake them up. Would you not get that sensation while being in a van that is rolling over 3 times(not to mention jumping over curbs and stuff).
Would an elevator falling not give you the sensation of falling(not to mention you would not be stuck to the floor of a falling elevator(you would fall at the same rate), then pop off the floor when it hits the ground.
Would a plane on a 10 hour flight from Hong Kong to LA not experience turbulance, waking them all from the dream

As for your question, he is definitely in limbo at the end. He would have to wake from each dream successively to come out completely, and there would be no way without a kick from the 4th level.
His kids are the same age, even though he has been 'away' for years.

My question about the movie is: Who is the fat guy that ate Tom Berringer?
