Tow cables can be especially dangerous, as can straps. Chains you don't have to really worry about them breaking because they don't build up and store hardly any energy from stretching like a cable or strap will.

That kid obviously stopped reading the rules of vehicle recovery before it says... don't use excessive speed with a "jerk strap" (as they're sometimes known) because they work good like that, at 2 mph, not 20mph and excellerating.

The next rule he didn't read is...throw a heavy blanket or tarp over the strap in case it breaks or comes loose. *note* A bumper/front frame assembly also works for this though it is more costly than a heavy blanket o
r tarp.

LMFAO, as someone who has pulled out a half dozen or so people from snowbanks, AND been pulled out myself from being stuck frame deep in mud...That was hilarious.

As soon as he said "I got 30' of Strap" i knew he was gonna rip his bumper off.

I've seen chain's snap and riddle the back tailgate of the tow vehicle, Looked like bullet holes...But the best ever was a guy pulling out the Huge ass Suburban and he had a 2500 Ram, and the chain snapped and recoiled right thru his rear diff cover...Talk about shitty...Being stuck out in the woods with No way to move your truck.

But he's right, Break it once...and Upgrade to something better!!

I have no idea why all of you are bashing the guy. He did get the truck out of the pile of dirt...just as intended.

True, mission accomplished. Now he just needs one of his hillbilly buddies to know how to weld.

Because this is the internet and we get to make fun of other people without any real chance at retribution, retaliation, or reprisal.
