Default Cell Phone Charging...

I am looking at getting a Power Mat, or myGrid, or... something that will charge my phone without having to plug it in. Any opinions?

I have a Nexus One.

Quote]But all of the chargers are device specific. They don't work with all phones, and in most cases, you have to buy more than just the charger. The Energizer Inductive charger only works with iPhone 3G, 3GS and Blackberry Curve 8900. You need an inductive charging sleeve for the iPhone. The Blackberry Curve requires a charging door. Both are priced at $35. My Grid's special charging sleeve is $30 to $35. The special Powermat receiver is $40.

I've looked into it for my Iphone, but I prefer the case I have versus having to use one specifically for charging a phone...I am hell on phones of any kind, so I have the most indestructible case I could buy, but if I had something like that I'd have to take it in and out constantly, and it's too much of a PITA.

Seems like a big waste of money to me... I mean, where's the benefit? You still need to have something plugged into the wall and you still need to physically place the device in contact with the thing... I mean, I guess it cuts out the step of plugging the device into the charger, but that's 0.10 seconds I can spare in my day...

The thing I hate about I tech is that NO ONE MAKES A CHARGER THAT ACCOUNTS FOR A COVER. I'll be damned if I have to pull this SOB cover off every time I want to plug in. So for now-I am stuck with cord chargers.

My thought is, we have four devices here in the house. If I can have a pad that will charge them vs a mess of multiple cords - bonus. If not, I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I just figured I'd ask here - with all our resident experts on everything, and all

Ok, that makes some sense.... I guess since I don't charge all my stuff in one central location it wouldn't appeal to me in that manner... the iPod is always in my truck, hooked up and charging... I charge my work phone off USB in the office... and my phone charges on the nightstand...
